It’s not shining
It’s not believable
It’s unworthy
It’s a sham
It has been scammed
It has been bled
The world is crumbling
without the people
The people who are smiling
and not beguiling
The world is watching
But now it feels like it’s hiding
Lurking in the corners
Waiting to rob someone
Sneaking a peek
at the innocent
Trying to trick the wisdom
out of humanity
someone into dead ends
Or take the goodness
out of the sunshine
Turn off the light of the stars
Cover the lighthouses
And blind the seekers
The world is in the shadows
But we can renew
the energy of our ancestors
and
Bring back
the magnificence of freedom
and hope
and kindness
and dignity
with integrity
We were created for that purpose
Bring the world out of the shadows
It doesn’t belong there
