I went to the hacienda hospital

in AZ with my Mom long ago now

She had a knee replacement

They were brutal

dragged her out of bed

Pushed her down the hallway

Played a golf game

with patients competing

on the wall

Said you are now in

the Jack LaLaine Gym

work that new knee

Does it hurt?

Oh well, the doctor lied.

Can’t do anything about it now.

This hacienda was difficult

but different for me

Stay in the basement of the hacienda

roommates between curtains

The certified crazy lady on the right next to

I guess my gall bladder is going tonight

the left field covered by

the heart transplant/pacemaker

what? A transplant and who’s going to pay for that?

Down to the screamers, dreamers, and schemers

It must be a dream!

what? no phone charger?

no hearing aid power?

no being fit in the hospital hacienda?

Where did you guys park the GMC ?

I don’t see it!

Yikes with catalytic converters missing daily

Lack vs privilege

Lions vs tigers

Branches vs stumps

Stripped vs blossoming

Nests vs homelessness

Vision vs blindness

Justice is blind

Justice denied

No Justice for peace or poverty

A tree has been stripped and butchered

Blood will flow

Change has been overridden

Trampling the feminine power

That is feared

Weep with the birds

Their home has been stolen

Weep silently

No one wants to hear

the sound of their own violence

Mosquitos and Mr. Mockingbird

The mourning doves are in the palm tree

Squirrels in their nest

The tree is resting

The sky is hazy white

Where has the blue bird gone

A leaning ponytail palm

A monster has chewed on the sunflower leaves

The white rose doesn’t like those brown tipped leaves

The dog just shakes her ears

It’s cloudy

No sun umbrella needed

If there was a clothesline pointless

To hang out wet ones

The wee house wrens are chattering

There was no funeral for the killer caterpillars dressed in black before

They are grey in their graveyard

The blue jays left the garden w

When the peanuts disappeared

It’s cloudy here except f

And squawkie songs were serenading the

Clouds

And the palm tree

Squirrels weren’t annoyed

They enjoyed

Especially when the winged players left the

Seeds of corn for them
